Top 5 Home Interior Trends

Whether you follow home design trends or simply want to update your look following the season change, I hope this post inspires you. Following my 5 top current home interior trends are some helpful hints on where to shop the look, NZ designed and/or made, of course! This article was inspired by my lovely Instagram followers. Thanks for voting on my stories!

Earthy Colour Schemes

As the days grow colder and spending time outside becomes less likely, I'm loving the use of earthy tones to uplift any room in your home (also a perfect alternative for those who don't like using bright statement colours). Bring the outside in with dark greens, beige, dull brown tones and soft powdery pinks. Use subtle thin stripes to break up the colours.

Dried Foliage It's obvious that most flowers don't last well in the Winter months, so why not try something different and get a little creative with your seasonal decor? Dried flowers are full of texture (which I'm all about for the Winter months especially) and last longer than normal flowers. When your finished with your arrangements you can even use the dried flowers to make your own cleaning products, beauty products, candles and more!

Shop the Look: There are many wonderful florists who provide dried floral services in New Zealand however, MarkAntonia (Auckland based) are a personal favourite. Mark and Antoinia create especially beautiful bespoke dried floral arrangements. You can shop their website here.

Embellishments Fringes, tassels and macramé all create stunning raw edges which create an organic 'hand-made' look. Soften and add warmth to any space with the use of these artisan textures. You'll notice a huge difference in rooms with cold hard surfaces like kitchens and bathrooms.

Tongue & Groove Wall Panelling

White wall panelling has definitely been on my favourites list for a while... ever since I saw it featured in one of Indie Home Collective's styled shots I fell in love with how it adds a twist to their tropical indie vibe.

Shop the Look: I'm definitely not a DIY renovations expert, so I did some research and found a great article by Home Depot so you can easily achieve this look and transform your entire space!

Velvet Decor & Furnishings Another lush texture to add to your home this season is velvet, a trend carried through from 2017 but still forecasted to be very popular this Winter. Go for bright mustard or dark orange to compliment an earthy colour scheme or stick to subtle neutrals to the contrast dark colours in your space (as pictured below).
